Common questions
How do I check whether a company sponsors H-1B?
Look at what it has filed. Every employer here has at least 10 certified Labor Condition Applications on record, which is the paperwork an employer must file before it can petition for an H-1B. Amazon, Google and Microsoft file the most of the companies hiring today. Each company page breaks the filings down by year, job title, city and salary.
Does a filing record mean they will sponsor me?
No, and nothing can promise that. It means the employer has an immigration process, has paid for it repeatedly and knows how it works, which is the opposite of the companies that reject international candidates at the first question. Whether a particular team has budget for it is still a conversation you have to have.
Can I apply before the H-1B lottery?
Most people do. The usual path is to start on OPT after graduating, then have the employer register you in the March lottery. That is why the entry-level roles on the OPT jobs page matter: you are looking for an employer who will still be there when registration opens.
What if I do not get selected?
Cap-exempt employers — universities, teaching hospitals, and affiliated nonprofits and research bodies — can file any month of the year with no lottery at all. Those roles are listed separately on the cap-exempt page.
Where does this filing data come from?
The Department of Labor publishes certified LCA disclosures every quarter. The counts here cover the two most recent fiscal years, so a company that has stopped filing drops down the ranking on its own.
