# **Genetic Counseling Assistant Part-Time** ## **Job Description** **Overview** ### **About the Role** We’re looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate **Genetic Counseling Assistant** to support our genetic counseling team. This role plays a key part in coordinating patient care, facilitating genetic testing, and ensuring a smooth experience for both patients and providers. ### **Top Skills for Success** - Strong attention to detail and organization - Timely, responsive communication - Excellent customer service and patient interactions - Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment ### **Team Culture** You’ll be part of a **warm, collaborative, and cohesive team** that values support, communication, and shared success. ### **Onboarding & Training** Comprehensive onboarding includes several weeks of **hands-on training and shadowing with a mentor** to ensure you feel confident in your role. ### **Key Responsibilities** - Facilitate genetic testing processes - Communicate with referring providers and patient families - Schedule appointments and coordinate care activities - Maintain and update databases and patient records - Request and manage medical records - Assist with billing investigations and prior authorizations - Support administrative tasks such as faxing, scanning, and mailing - Partner with genetic counselors on a variety of daily operations ### **Minimum Qualifications** - High School Diploma or equivalent (required) - 0–3 years of relevant experience ### **Preferred Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree - Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification - Familiarity with medical terminology - Exposure to clinical trials or data management principles (not required) - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) We are an equal opportunity employer.
