Surgery Responsibilities: The position of Nurse Practitioner II in the Department of Surgery, requires a highly competent and independent yet team-oriented individual who will be immersed in the management and coordination of all inpatient care for the Department of Surgery, Division of Emergency General Surgery. Duties include and not limited to assessing health needs, planning and evaluating care of all patients on the emergency general surgery service which will include patients in the surgical intensive care unit, step down unit, telemetry unit and medical surgical units. The Nurse Practitioner will work closely with residents, fellows and attending surgeons. The inpatient workload will include handoff at the out at beginning and end of shift, seeing inpatients, consults in the ED, and coordinating care among team members, including, social work, case management, therapy and other medical and surgical specialties. Surgical consultations will include assessments, decisions on indications for surgery and preparation for surgery. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for care and organization of procedures (including scheduling operations, interventional procedures, etc) and follow-up, obtain consults as needed, admit and discharge patients (including admission orders,
