**What You Will Do** **This position will be filled at either the R&D Engineer 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.** The Prototype Fabrication Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory provides technical experience and proficiency in machining, fabrication and precision dimensional inspection of critical hardware needed to support the nation's nuclear stockpile readiness efforts. The selected candidate will be joining a dedicated staff of engineers, machinists, quality control professionals, and maintenance technicians to ensure that complex manufacturing equipment is operating at their optimum level. The successful applicant will join the Prototype Fabrication Integrated Logistics and Asset Management Group. You will have the opportunity to support diverse engineering assignments within a manufacturing environment. Typical assignments will include supporting the installation, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance of advanced CNC mills and lathes. In each of these areas you will be required to learn, support, and ensure that the diverse capabilities of the division are maintained properly to ensure continuous operations. **R&D Engineer 1 ($96,600 - $158,000)** The selected candidate will optimize machinery reliability, safety, and performance by designing preventative maintenance programs, supporting corrective maintenance activities, and aiding in the integration of new equipment. **R&D Engineer 2 ($106,400 - $176,000)** In addition to what was outlined at level 1, the selected candidate shall also have experience designing, planning and executing complex projects within a manufacturing environment. **What You Need** **Minimum Job Requirements:** **Technical Expertise** - Working knowledge applying engineering practices and principles supporting the integration and repair of complex manufacturing equipment. -
